Carlos Prates fights at welterweight in the UFC.
The state of São Paulo is his birthplace. He trains at The Fighting Nerds, his mother took him to a gym at 15, and he turned pro in 2012.
In Thailand he was a Bangla Stadium champion, in China a Glory of Heroes champion, and in Brazil an Sft champion, and he holds black belts in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai.
He has an Australian daughter, and promoters in Brazil called it a nightmare to find him an opponent, which is where the nickname came from.
A bonus came with each of the seven UFC wins. He has won 14 of his last 15, the last 13 wins came by knockout or TKO, and the last decision win was in December 2019, with ten finishes in the first round, nine in the second, and three in the third.
Leon Edwards was the first world champion he fought. Felipe Douglas and Lucas Rafael were the main training partners for the Jack Della Maddalena camp.
